A Hauntingly Good Time.
We are celebrating the dark, brooding inspiration that Milledgeville, Georgia has given to countless pages of literary work while not forgetting that thousands of people who unfortunately found themselves at the Central State Hospital, one of the largest mental institutions in the United States.
Seeing as our new date is right around the time of Halloween we want to pay homage to all of the misfits who traveled these roads before us. You might call us a little “eccentric” of our choice of Host City and routes, we don’t care. Ultimately, we’re all on the outside looking in and the deep dark woods of central Georgia on bike is our salvation.
We think you’ll find the increased lodging and dining options in Milledgeville to better fulfill your graveling needs with plenty of pre and post race activities in this fun-sized college town.
Our community-focused races leave traditional-format gravel grinders in the dust. Each of our courses features timed race segments while still allowing you to party pace with friends of different skill levels. So bring your high spirits, your tall tales, and a whole lot of energy!

Get ready for some fun. Our races will maximize your smiles-per-mile with a timed-segment race format.
Rather than embracing the sufferfest of other races, we’re leaning into equal parts party on two wheels and mash those pedals. Ride with friends across each transfer stage, then drop the hammer through the finish of each timed segment. Regroup at the finish and ride together to the next segment.
Minimally, the Short course usually has one timed-segment, Intermediate course two timed-segments, and Long course will have three, covering up to 30-40% of the course distance.

Medical support: We manage our own team of on-course medical support in order to reduce the load on rural EMS resources.
Timed-segment race format: Our races include 1-4 timed segments (depending on your course distance), challenging riders over our favorite course sections. We have begun utilizing an app called Webscorer for both safety and timing purposes. This makes timing and results a lot faster process than in the past.
Fully-stocked aidstations: Each course will have 1-4 aid stations (depending on race distance) fully stocked with fresh fruit, soft drinks, sports hydration, snacks…charcuterie boards, small cheeses, happy dogs and on occasion Gravel Nana and Gravel Grampa!
Mechanical and SAG support: Our roving support vehicles carry mechanical assistance in addition to medical support. No matter what happens on-course, we’ll do our best to help you out.
Participant Raffle: We’ve got fantastic prizes this year as usual! We’ve got wheelsets and accessories from Full Speed Ahead, bags from The Spindle, Specialized is kicking in tires, sealants, gloves, helmets, clothing along with other prizes from Squirt Cycling, Vego Bears, ENO Hammocks, Wahoo, and more…Little raffles happen with the podiums for the shorter and intermediate length courses, but if you want the good stuff, hang around until after our last podium and cheer your feelow riders in while you wait.
Post Race: We’ll have cold brews and microbrews courtesy of Allagash Brewing. We’ll have a food truck or two on-site serving up food for purchase post race around 11:00am.
We will have some local vendors showing off their hard work as well, so get some food and hang out for our raffles and podiums throughout the afternoon.
