Guaranteed to make you whoop, The Holler in Walhalla is our mountain gravel race for the Gravel Roll in 2024. If you've ridden the Valley of the Giants in the past, the road surface composition will be very similar and is representative of what mountain gravel with the U.S. Forest Service road system is like. There'll be some smooth crush, some chunky, and of course a dash of our usual Gravel Roll fun. Many of you are familiar with Southeast Gravel Race to Valhalla but we're going to take you on a different experience and a few different roads for your riding pleasure. We're also bringing the mileage and elevation down a lot from our Valley of The Giants races by at least 25%. This doesn't make the climbs and descent any easier, it just makes it shorter. Of course, tie all this in with our timed segment "race" format and you can choose the adventure best suited to you.
Afterwards, hang around at the Walhalla Performing Arts Center for our usual post ride hangs with beers from PBR and local food trucks serving up post race noshes. We've got some great raffle prizes from FSA, Specialized, The Spindle and more of our wonderful partners!

Get ready for some fun. Our races will maximize your smiles-per-mile with a timed-segment race format.
Rather than just embracing the sufferfest of other races, we’re leaning into equal parts mash those pedals and party on two wheels. Ride with friends across each transfer stage, then drop the hammer through the finish of each timed segment. Regroup at the finish and ride together to the next segment.
Minimally, the Short course usually has one timed-segment, Intermediate course two timed-segments, and Long course will have three, covering up to 30-40% of the course distance. Segments starts and finishes will be marked on the GPS courses when we release them.

Medical support: We manage our own team of on-course medical support in order to reduce the load on rural EMS resources.
Timed-segment race format: Our races include 1-3 timed segments, challenging riders over our favorite course sections. We utilize actual timing chips and boxes to track your time to the hundreths of a second.
Fully-stocked aid stations: Each course will have 2-4 aid stations fully stocked with fresh fruit, soft drinks, sports hydration, snacks…charcuterie boards, small cheeses, happy dogs and on occasion Gravel Mom and Gravel Dad!
Mechanical and SAG support: Our roving support vehicles carry mechanical assistance in addition to medical support. No matter what happens on-course, we’ve got you covered.

Think of this as race insurance. If you need to cancel your race weekend, this will give you the option to receive a full refund or transfer the full value of this race to a future race. If you think you might not make it, or want to transfer or refund, you need to do so a week before race day, or snap a selfie of you giving us the thumbs up from your hospital bed if insde of that. Inclement (cold, wet, wind) but not severe weather do not qualify for a refund.

Walhalla itself does not have any hotels, but there are hotels just 10minutes away in Seneca South Carolina.
There are plenty of Airbnbs. Some like this sweet container house with a view (Container House) or Lofts in Downtown Walhalla (Lofts)
There is dispersed primitive camping all over the Sumter National Forest and along our routes.
If you are looking for more civilized camping Oconee State Park North of Walhalla (Reservation)
There are plenty of additional places to stay by checking out our partners at Visit Oconee
